I've just gotten word that The Box Children is a finalist in the fiction category for the 2003 Violet Crown Book Award, presented by the Writers' League of Texas.
So--I'm heading down to Austin for the presentation at 7 p.m. on September 20 at Barnes & Noble in Westlake (701 S. Capital of Texas Highway). Professional actors will read from finalists' works, so that will be fun to hear.
Last weekend I was a featured author at the 'Boats, Books, and Brushes' festival in New London, CT. I sold all the books they had and wished I'd brought more!
Upcoming: A reading/discussion at Borders in Fort Lee, New Jersey on Wednesday, November 12.
I've been sending the book out to middle and high school teachers, 60 so far, and am starting to get responses. I'm making myself available for online conversations with students, and hope some of those come about.
That's it for now. Hope you're all doing well.
The Box Children is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places,
and incidents either are the product of the author's imagination or are
used fictitiously, and any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead,
business establishments, events or locales is entirely coincidental.
